'Call of Duty: Black Ops' Infiltrating Wii This Fall

A first look at "Call of Duty: Black Ops" revealed a mission titled "WMD," which takes place during the Cold War in the Ural Mountains. New details indicate that Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC owners won't be the only ones able to tour Treyarch's history lesson, though. The Wii has been outed as a "Black Ops" platform too.

Nintendo's console will be among the systems getting the next Call of Duty title on November 9, according to USA Today. A Wii edition doesn't come as a huge surprise, given that Treyarch's last go at the franchise, "Call of Duty: World at War," shipped for the white box as well, but the focus on "Black Ops" since it was announced has been firmly placed on its other incarnations.

The news will definitely be good for the Wii, which hasn't had an overabundance of high-profile third-party titles in recent years. Treyarch's decision to maintain their CoD presence on the system won't cause any major shakeups. It should, however, be seen as a vote of confidence amid less enthusiastic moves by other companies.

Were you surprised to hear that "Black Ops" will be available on the Wii? Do you think Treyarch and Activision made the right call? Sound off in the comment section below.
