Rockstar working on Wii and DS games?

"Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars" experienced disappointing sales when it came to the Nintendo DS, but Rockstar North doesn't appear to have given up on the portable platform. In fact, job listings posted by the studio indicate that they still need physics-savvy developers to help out on Wii and DS. There's no way to know at this point if either of the two new recruits will be working on a GTA game, but with a prominent analyst predicting "Grand Theft Auto 5" at E3 in June, such scenarios are worth contemplating.

Rockstar North needs a physics programmer familiar with the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii, according to a listing on Gamasutra. There's also a junior physics programmer who can work on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, mobile phone, PSP and DS assignments.

Rockstar Games has tested the Wii before with "Bully," "Manhunt 2" and "Rockstar Table Tennis." Seeing Rockstar North renewed interest in the system is notable, though. In an era when some developers are getting cold feet about developing Mature Wii titles, these postings go against the grain coming from Rockstar.

Then again, maybe there's a "Mario"-styled take on Niko Bellic in the works. Who knows?

What do you think Rockstar North is working on?
